So I’ve been watching a butt load of films recently just purely to get me thinking about them properly again.

Just watching Notre Jour Viendra (Our Day Will Come) now. It’s not as good as I had hoped. Maybe this is because it’s been sat on my desktop since its release, building up excitement and expectations. Maybe because I love most of the director’s (Romain Gavras) other work so this I should also love. Although mostly likely is its inclusion of Vincent Cassel and my crush on everything he does.

I keep thinking that it’s not mind blowing because all these factors could never be lived up to, but as it’s progressing, I’m thinking it’s actually just because it’s not actually very good.

The acting’s good, it’s shot reasonably cinematically and interestingly but it’s a bit without sole. A lot of ‘yeh, that’s cool’ and not enough ‘oh, i see’.

It’s pretty late here and I’m getting distracted by the sun coming up, but hey, at least I’ve started thinking again.
